Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools Prevention News Update
LISTSERV
GOVINFOWRAP AND SEAINFOWRAP

OSDFSC LISTSERV DEFINITION:
An automated mailing list
DISSEMINATION:
Once a week plus special editions
PURPOSE:
To provide OSDFS State Coordinators with the latest prevention news--grant awards and grant opportunities (ED, Justice, and HHS), bills/testimony (Congress), OSDFS program information, research/science-based noteworthy programs, events, and articles on emerging new studies. In addition, the LISTSERV is a pro-active vehicle for providing and receiving information from States.
HOW TO ACCESS:
If you are the OSDFS State Coordinator (SEA or Gov.), contact your OSDFS program officer to be enrolled. Only one or two coordinators per program (SEA, Gov.) per State receive the LISTSERV. Those on the LISTSERV list may share it with others in your State.
ADDRESS CHANGES:
If your e-mail address changes, please let us know. You may send any changes in your address or status to your program officer, so we can add, delete or change your designation on the LISTSERV list. This way you ensure that you will continue or stop receiving the LISTSERV.
PARTICIPATION:
350 people are enrolled and receive the OSDFS PREVENTION NEWS UPDATE. Some States send all or edited pieces of the LISTSERV to their LEAs or other grantees. The OSDFS PREVENTION NEWS UPDATE provides information and is not directly interactive to participants. Among others who receive it are CAPT (Center for the Application of Prevention Technology) Staff members and members of SIGS (state incentive grants) teams.
VISION:
To keep State OSDFS Coordinators better connected to the OSDFS Program in Washington, D.C. and to provide the best available information to help coordinators do the best job possible with their program.
OUTCOME:
Since1998, when the LISTSERV became available to States, phone requests for general information has decreased and State Coordinators feel better informed and connected to the OSDFS Program at Headquarters. For further information about the OSDFS PREVENTION NEWS UPDATE, contact David Quinlan, david.quinlan@ed.gov .
